DON'T CALL ME
“Mij niet bellen.” This means “don’t call me” in Dutch. Some Dutch celebrities have popularised the phrase in recent years, and now almost every Dutch person knows what it means. Basically, it means you don’t want to be associated with certain (theoretical) people or situations. Meanwhile, many people don’t want to be associated with phones either. Telephone phobia is becoming increasingly common. 38% of Dutch youth are afraid to call people or be called. Strange, isn’t it? You’d think young people would be less scared of phones.
